After a successful and very rapid implementation of a face shield production process with local maker groups, RVA Makers, BuildRVA and in Richmond, VA, the GOOD WORK Society has headed south to Wilmington, NC to partner with Wilmington resident Robyn Thomas who is a hard working mother. GOOD WORK Society founder, Larkin Garbee, posted a call for help in a local Moms Facebook group in Wilmington and Robyn raised her hand. Robyn jumped right into the work and is absolutely knocking it out of the park. As a GOODHEALTHTaskForce leader, Robyn took the reins and quickly assembled a team of local business owners, banking and mortgage service providers, realtors, and actively engaged citizens committed to helping support the PPE shortages that the world is currently experiencing. “She is an amazing human that believes one person can change the world,” says Larkin. About Robyn
“In my previous life I worked in pain management. I was also a Special Operations wife. We have a beautiful daughter named Violet, she was born very early coming home from the NICU at only 4lbs. I was raised in a family that believes in civil service and giving back to the communities we live in. America is the greatest nation on earth. Even in tough, tragic, and devastating times, the commonality of being an American, a neighbor, bonds us and encourages us to answer the call to do more for each other.” How did you get connected to the GOOD Health Task Force? “It was actually very serendipitous. I woke up at 5am Thursday morning and felt such a heavy weight of anxiety and fear. I listened to Way Maker praying for peace, healing, and understanding. That same morning I saw Larkin’s post in a Wilmington mom's FB group around 7:51AM and I jumped in. I felt the call to do something, anything to help in these times of devastation and confusion.” Robyn has already secured a warehouse location and is working on donations and volunteers along with securing face shields for the New Hanover County Sheriff's office. We are so excited to have her on the team! “I am just one woman looking at the world, the country I love so much facing unbelievable hardship trying to do whatever I can to make the smallest difference.” ABOUT THE GOODHEALTHTaskForce The GOODHealthTaskForce is an initiative of the GOOD WORK Society that believes that GOOD starts at home. The GOODSHIELD1000 project provides a playbook that provides a streamlined process, complete with guidelines for anyone to replicate in their community. The materials are already sourced and can be drop-shipped to a chosen location. All it takes is a task force leader to recruit volunteers, recruit a local brewery, warehouse owner or local small batch manufacturer and raise funds. Supplies are drop-shipped to the assembly partner where they can be sorted in a safe environment. Volunteers pick up the box, assemble the shields, and ship to local medical facilities that register that they have need through the online form. HOW YOU CAN HELP
